FanHouse's Ryan Wilson noted today that letters were written to Judge Henry Hudson on behalf of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick by, among others, George Foreman.
But let's dig into some of the details of Foreman's letter, which can be read as a PDF on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution web site. Specifically, check out the way Foreman opens his letter:
Dear Judge Hudson:Seriously, George? You feel the need to tell the judge about your grill?
I'm a fulltime minister at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Houston, Texas, former two-time Heavyweight Champion of the world, and known all over the world as the king of the grills because of the George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine.
The rest of the brief letter is actually an interesting account of Foreman's youth, and although I doubt it had any bearing on Hudson's sentencing decision, it's worth reading for boxing fans who are interested in Foreman's early life. But I just think maybe Foreman didn't need to make a plug for his grill there. Seems like not quite the right time for it. Sorry, No Photos

It's very interesting to read about Vick. I for one am not so hip on aggresiveness etc. I guess folks who love the tabloids must think the fairy godmother of law pays the bills.
In any regard, those of us who are affiliated with product branding and marketing laugh as we see it done in such a big way at our countries expense.
Vick however, got what he deserved, as did his cronies. let him rot as he is a cruel human being. Let his monies cover the cost. That's not the kind of man I want my children to idolize as a pro-athelete. Those of you who like to bet, have at it!

hook some electrical current to him, and see if he is affected by it. I think he got less than what he deserves. Yes, he knew right from wrong, but like a lot of people little to late.I'm not buying it

THE INDIVIDUAL,MICHEAL VICK KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING AND MUST ANSWER FOR HIS ACTIONS.
FOR GEORGE FORMAN TO COME TO HIS SIDE TO GET A REDUCED SENTENCE IS NOT SOMETHING A MINISTER SHOULD BE DOING. hE DID THE ACTION NOW HE MUST PAY WITH THE.

cast the first stone. If god for gave us then why is it so hard to forgive Vicks.Taking away his pride is enough.Look at all the killings of humans, what about that. You can kill a chicken, cow,or slaughter
hogs.not much difference.Vick made a careless mistake. There's some of you outthere doing,or have done things but you haven't been caught yet.Only god knows.

I hope you have sold the last grill to any dog person with caracter.
Minister or not, anuone who condones behavior like Michal Vick's should be punished and not just given 23 months. These dogs did not have 23 months of peace.

Good point, Brockington - maybe we shouldn't prosecute, since other people do bad things too.

happening in most rural communities and
Authorities ignored and nothing done about it
THEY EAT DOGS IN OTHER COUNTRIES AS WELL.

You know, I believe that Vick is sorry. I just think that he wouldn't be nearly as sorry had he not gotten caught. I am sure he is worried about what his children will think of him being in jail, but more important is the message that he was giving them, that it's ok to kill dogs just don't get caught. I hope for the sake of his kids, his family and himself that he is sincere in his apology and I hope never to hear of him involved in such a thing again. And as for his father, what a piece of garbage. Makes sense that Vick isn't right, look at his old man.

It is a shame that people are crying about dogs dying when there are millions of men, women, and children are dying. People are so concern about dogs and they can careless about people. Why do not we have millions of people protesting the conditions of america people in this world? The only thing I see the Michael Vick haters should be ashame of themselves about dogs and not people and it does not that a million dollars to take of dogs...I think they want that money to lined their pockets. This is a perverse and deceitful generation

When are black people going to get over calling everything a mistake? Do you have any idea what the word means?
Did Vick make a mistake when he bought this property?Did he make a mistake when he agreed that it be used for the purposes of a dog killing betting ring?
Did he make a mistake when he lied about it?
Just when did he make the Mistake?
Seems like his mistake for Blacks is getting caught, and then somehow being treated the worse for it because he is black. He is not a poor sharecroper. He isn't starving, nor was he denied entrance to college.
Wake up, the color of his skin isn't the criterion which sets him apart. Its his money! And Privilege! If he was a poor white southern boy, he would be facing a much longer sentence, and there would be no outcry from the Black ministers for mercy. Do you remember The treatment the Atlanta pitcher received for telling the TRUTH about the NY subway system? He was castigated, booed, and made to apologize for telling the TRUTH! And he didn't even commit a crime!
For those who want to plead that poor little rich Michael Vick made a mistake, maybe you want to take up a collection plate for the KKK, or others because obviouisly the simply "MADE A MISTAKE".
Also, your Bible says render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and unto God what is God's. His soul may belong to God, but his ass belongs to the county jail for his crimes against Humanity. I'm sure they will find a nice cushy warm dry place for him to play cards and watch tv. No chain gang for this over privileged mediocre black quarterback.

Response to Brockton - You are right about forgiveness and not casting the first stone, but sometimes we must pay the consequences for what we do, otherwise, people would go out and do whatever they want. Vick's actions were not the same as killing chickens, cows, etc. which are necessary for food. His methods were creatively cruel. Many of his animals were malnourshed and all of them suffered in order to provide entertainment for him and his friends. Besides all of the moral issues, his actions were just plain illegal and there's a penalty to pay.

I think that the sentence is too harsh. It seems to me that we put people in prison for much too long and that generates anger & rebellion when they get out. I think that six to nine months would have conveyed the message that we needed to convey. In no way am I excusing what he did, just submitting my thoughts on the sentence.
