It's still not clear what triggered it, but fans started brawling, throwing chairs and beer bottles, injuring the ring doctor and the wife of the fight promoter.
"In 10 years of staging fight nights, I can't recall ever seeing anything else like it," promoter Angelo Hyder said.
From The Daily Telegraph:
As the celebrations continued, it appeared heated words were soon exchanged between Elomar's supporters in the ring and Kickett's supporters outside it. Then a chair was launched into the ring.Local authorities are promising an investigation, and criminal charges could be filed. It then erupted into a full-blown brawl, with chairs and water bottles hurled through the air.
Several times Fox Sports commentator Andy Raymond labelled the brawl a disgrace, but was stopped from talking by network bosses last night. Raymond announced that Fox Sports would cut short its telecast, ending the show before even a replay of Elomar's stunning knockout punch could be aired.
Some Elomar supporters appeared to be antagonising the Kickett supporters from the ring. Fight promoter Angelo Hyder did not have his mobile phone on after the brawl.
Kickett appeared in total control throughout most of the first round, rattling Elomar with lefts and rights as he appeared to be on his way to a comfortable victory.

I have been a fight fan for most of my like. I am 55, and my Daddy whos was my hero, watched all sports, Football and boxing were his favarite two. I must have started watching boxing as soon as I strted watching TV. If I wanted to be with Daddy, then I had to watch sports. Boxing was and still is my favorite. I have seen many ups and downs through the years. I have seen all kinds of craziness. I have seen so many wonderful, and good fought fights, by the winners and the loosers. This film clip is just a disgrace, and it is a sad day for boxing fans(as well as the boxers) all over the world. I am sad and disapointed to see this happen. Send everyone of these guys next door to the Wrestling arena. P.Burke.

EACH TIME I SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS, WHICH IS ALL THE TIME AND MORE CONSTANT EACH AND EVERY DAY, I THINK OF THE MORONS WHO SUPPORT NO DISCIPLINING A CHILD WITH CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. THEY SAY THAT SPANKING A CHILD CREATES ANGER AND CAUSESE THEM TO BE VIOLENT. YOU DAMN FOOLS, DON'T YOU HAVE A CLUE TO LIFE AT ALL???? JUST LOOK AT THE BRAWLS, THE FIGHT, THE OUT OF CONTROL PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD. YOU CANNOT SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE WITH THEM STARTING WITH THE FINGER AND THEN IT GOES FROM THERE. SURE PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS HAD DISAGREEMENT AND PEOPLE HAVE FOUGHT, BUT NOTHING LIKE WHAT'S GOING ON TODAY WERE THE BRAWLS ERUPT EVERYWHERE AND AT THE DROP OF A HAT.

I always find it amazing that a decade or so ago boxing was sited as being too violent and people were calling for either more safety precautions or to end it. So what happens? A new sport has almost taken its place in MMA more than twice as violent as the gloves are not as thick or padded as the boxing gloves, feet, elbow and knees (not padded) are acceptable. A large percentage of the fights end in either a KO or with a limb in serious danger of being permanently damaged. I do not want to imagine some of the ailments the MMA fighter get when they get older. its going to be brutal.

I grew up watching boxing matches with my dad, and my grandmother........couldn't sit next to her because she'd beat the fire out of me during the match (love you Nanny, RIP)
I kind of lost interest during the 90's when Don King made boxing into a soap opera.....and its been all downhill since.

Calzaghe, The Great White Hope. Not only did he win he taunted Roy the whole fight after he got knocked down with a arm chop to the face. If we can have a black president we can have a white champion. Calzage 2012 for president obviously you dont have to be a US Citizen to be President.

MMA is much safer than boxing. In boxing, two men beat each other about the head until one is rendered unconscious. In MMA they grapple until one submits. Sure there are injuries in MMA, but they don't get the repeated concussions that boxers do.

In general we are a less civilized society than we were a couple of decades ago. What does it tell you that the fastest growing sport features kicking, wrestling, bare hands punching, etc. The fact that spectator fights break out at boxing matches just goes to show the lack of civility and restraint that people have. Not a good commentary on the future of the worls !!

This circus was highly disrespectful to the Professional Athletes who give it their best shot. I bet someone in the ring, after the knock out, started it with ignorant comments. That person should have been shown the door.
