When I spoke today to Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao, he told me he isn't worried about the size advantage that Oscar De La Hoya will have when they fight on December 6.But what if it turns out that De La Hoya doesn't have any size advantage at all?
After talking to Roach -- who told me Pacquiao weighs 151 pounds right now -- I talked to De La Hoya's trainer, Nacho Beristain, and he told me something stunning: As De La Hoya has trained for this fight, his weight dipped all the way down to 146 pounds.
Beristain said he was concerned by that, and that once they got more carbs and protein into his system, De La Hoya got back up to 150. But that's still a pound less than Pacquiao. So much for De La Hoya having a size advantage.
Both fighters will weigh in at 147 pounds on December 5, and once they rehydrate for Saturday night's fight, I think De La Hoya will have a slight weight advantage, as well as, obviously, a height and reach advantage of a few inches. But overall, I have to agree with Roach: De La Hoya's size advantage isn't all it's cracked up to be.

WELL, EVERYBODY WANTS A THRILL. That's what Pacquiao is gonna give everyone. It is my job as a boxer like what he said to get eveybody entertained. That thrilling moment will come in just a matter of time. As Manny Pacquiao himself said size does not matter long before Delahoya started saying things about fighting Pacquiao. Manny has seen Hoya personally and even trained with him together in Puerto Rico. He wouldn't have accepted this fight had he figured out a disparity between them may not be good to fight him. Comes the aftermath of this fight on Dec.6 all the biggest newspapers / the broadcast media in the world will have it in their front pages " Manny Pacquiao The Greatest Fighter of All Time". .... Now, let us set aside the criticism and arguments who is bigger.

Pacman will win in by a KO, even if Oscar is so much huge from pacman .. cause i believed that a disadvantage fighter like pacman will build more confidence himself; like in pacman vs morales 2, so beware Oscar, its 25 days to go.. train hard =)

ODLH Advantage Height,Experience,Weight and Left hand jab
ODLH Disadvantage Old,Slow and Fading on the last round
MP Advantage Speed,Stamina,Relentless fighting & Big Heart
MP Disadvantage Careless and Small
To sum it up i always believe what Sugar Ray Leonard said " Speed always defeat power " and My point of view they say MP must watch these rounds but i saw MP start in boxing he has the Lion heart and the willingness to win when his back against the wall MP is dangerous i saw many boxing greats but MP is different e can beat even he is against the odds, My prediction Unanimous Decision- Filipino-Canadian from Calgary

Hello! As a boxing fan of PACMAN, here’s my opinion . . . for the incoming fight between MP & ODLH, it think the height & size advantage of ODLH, won’t matter.Like when ODLH fought the Great Pernell Whitaker who has a Reach of “69” and a Height of “5-6” and Hector Camacho who has a Reach of “69” and a Height of “5-6 1/2'” both southpaws and have the age 33 y/o and 35 y/o respectively when they fought ODLH who at that time is 24y/o only and earned hardly an unanimous decision and assessed at that time that ODLH has a hard time fighting southpaws. Which when compared to PACMAN who has a Reach of “67” and a Height of “5-6 ½” which closed to both Whitakker & Camacho w/c is also a southpaw, but the difference is He is younger than ODLH by 5 yrs. and I think much faster and has a great speed than Whitakker & Camacho. And finally look at Steve Forbes (Reach-“68” & Height-“5-7 ½”) , Miguel Cotto (Reach-“:67” & Height –“5-7”) and Ricky Hatton (Reach-“65” & Height – “5-7 ½”) which is almost closed to PACMAN’s Reach & Height and they are fighting mostly at welterweight level. And I think for my prediction on these fight . . . PACMAN will win by close UD.

De La hoya is going to do to pacman what he did to mayorga Period! Pacman is a one dimensional fighter and is only good coming forward but unfortunately for him, his style is perfect for de la hoy to counter him all day long which as you will see will end up in pacman being knocked out. De la hoya's combos, slickness, craftiness, speed, combination punching, power, yes I said power as you will see, the ability to box, brawl, power jab, and being unpredictable as well as having a granite chin and reach advantage will prove too much for pac! Pacman has never tasted power like what he will face when he gets hit by de la hoya especially the signature punch, the left hook!! De la hoya is too smart of a fighter to fall for pacman's one dimensional style with occasional right hooks and right jabs not enought to beat de la hoya and to the surprise of the fans of pacman, will see that since de la hoya throws some wicked combination punches, de la hoya will hurt pac and be faster. That is what makes me laugh. The reason I say this is because Barrerra, morales and even marquez who pretty much pacman doesn't want any of him since he has escaped with a narrow controversial decision over. These guys were all pretty slow with the exception marquez is a bit faster and throws combination punches and we saw how many problems manny has with combination punches! DE la hoya is way faster than all of these guys, has extremely clean combos and he is faster than pacman as you will see during the fight. It makes me laught that Freddy roach, pacman's trainer, talks all that garbage but I know he is talking all that trash because he is really insecure about what is going to happen so he covers it with bs talk. Basically, he is like a dog that barks but does not bite and De la hoya is keeping quiet but manny and his trainer Roach will be made to shut up. DE La HOYA will knock pacman out and I will be surprised if it goes passed the 5th round!

This is exciting to say the least! I can't wait for December 6th. The Pac Man is def the most exciting talent in boxing... Nothing comes close in my book. You have got to give him total respect from moving up through the weights and beating all the top boxers on the planet. I dunno if fighting at 147 is a step 2 far for him though... I would love to see him fight the Hitman at 140 and I beleive he would beat Hatton with ease. Manny has to wear ODLH down and take him into the latter stages of this fight. ODLH will fade as he did with Mayweather and then PacMan can just pick him off like he did with Diaz. If it goes past the 6th then Manny speed, stamina and incredible fighing heart will prevail. Although not really his style Manny has recently shown he can be very good defensive fighter as well... He now has much improved head movement which he didn't have before. He loves to load up and go toe to toe which maybe he can't do in this bout. If he boxes smart and takes ODLH into the latter stages then there is one winner. If he is careless in the early stages then ODLH will take advantage.
