Manchester, England's world junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton defeated Brooklyn's Paulie Malignaggi with an 11th-round TKO tonight in Las Vegas, retaining his Ring Magazine and IBO titles.
Malignaggi revealed a fairly dull boxing style, doing a lot of clinching and landing a lot of jabs that didn't have much power on them. Hatton was beating him all night long (on my scorecard he won nine of the first 10 rounds), and in the 11th round Malignaggi's corner threw in the towel.
In the ring afterward Malignaggi shoved his trainer, Buddy McGirt, showing anger that McGirt had stopped the fight. But the reality is, Malignaggi had no chance of winning this fight. Hatton is the better fighter -- and the best fighter in the world at 140 pounds.
Hatton improves his record to 45-1, with 36 knockouts. Malignaggi falls to 25-2.

Malignaggi is a punk and a over rated nit wit, he doesnt fight, he ducks, holds, puts his head between his legs, runs, turns his back, he does everything to not get hit or punch, and he seems to always squeak out a win, but not against someone like Hatton, or any other top fighters, one regret is that they didnt let the fight continue, I was hoping Hatton would make him brain dead.

Good performance if Ricky who is actually an excellent boxer, boxes he will be an unbeatable forces. If he charges in as supposed to fight his way in i dont think Floyd would have had such an easy win. Ricky comes across as a true champion, his modesty and likeable humour can absolutely go to producing Britains most deserved world champion. He was clever enough to have got and seen through Frank Warren and moved on and i believe he will earn and retire a truely genuine champion and extrodinary normal great to admired ,human being. GL Ricky you have earnt every penny . Everyones your mate when your on top but you have a huge fan club who admire your modesty and ability and your actually very funny self piss take sense of humour. If you box dont rush in you will definately be
such a handful, you have power a great fighting brain and a record that speaks volumes . ALL THE VERY BEST .

If this is all boxing has to offer, the MMA will eclipse the manly art of self defense very quickly.
Hatton is a journeyman who looked merely competent against the goofy, clutching, light hitting Malignaggi. I am truely sorry I stayed up to watch that waste.
Long live the UFC
