Out of all the possible endings to Oscar De La Hoya's bout with Manny Pacquiao, a TKO before the ninth round is something I don't think many of us expected to see. But the "Golden Boy" simply looked like rusted bronze after he took so many rapid-fire blows from Pacquiao, and he just couldn't last much longer.
Between rounds, referee Tony Weeks told De La Hoya, "If you keep taking punches, I'm stopping the fight."
But De La Hoya would never take another punch. After De La Hoya's corner told him they might have to throw in the towel, De La Hoya refused the bell for Round 9.
Check out video of the stunning defeat below. And head here if you'd like to see photos of all the action.

Two classy guys. Oscar was great in his day but this is a new day and the young turks are showing the stuff that keeps boxing the sweet science. I look forward to seeing Manny continue his career and giving the audience quality fights like this one.

Oscar major disappointment. I've seen better fights from him. It's all in for the money. A true boxer stays up until the end. What a failure at round 8, we didnt see any punches, hooks or body punch. All I could say is stop fighting just for the money and do it for the love of your game. I look forward to Marquez againts Manny. Goodbye to Manny it will be ;o)

That's why,I did not pay the pay per view event.Oscar is 35. in order for me to pay almost $55,00. you have to watch fighters on their prime. When they don't quit until someone gets knocked down.Bloody. Thats when you get your money's worth.

It's just a case of changing of the gaurd, Oscar can hold his head up high. When julio Cesar Chavez got long on the tooth, Oscar took him out. Oscar wanted to know when it was the oportune time to go out, well it's safe to say Manny Pacquiao, answered that for him. Thanks for all the great memories Oscar. You have so much to offer the game of Boxing, just not in the Ring. A greatful Fan.

de la hoya is not young, nor fast and furiuos
de la hoya has never fought somebody
this fast. He could have done all the sparring
in the world, in practice, but never sparred
agaisnt anybody as fast or as strong.
He said after the fight that the fight went as
expected. That is because he knew he was
not anywhere as near to the caliber of a figter as
pacquio

Manny is today's greatest technician! We haven't had a real boxer like him since Sugar Ray Leonard. I would retire right now Pretty Boy before you get the truth beat into you as well. Love You Pacman . Kapusong Pinoy!
