Margarito, who was pummeled by Shane Mosley in a ninth-round TKO, reportedly had to have his hands rewrapped before the fight due to a complaint by Mosley's trainer, Nazim Richardson.

According to the Los Angeles Times report, officials found what Mosley's doctor described as plaster of Paris hidden in the wrapped hands of Margarito during pre-fight inspection. "It gets hard and mobile," Robert Olvera told the Times.
As my FanHouse colleague Michael David Smith mentioned in his recap, Margarito didn't look much like the fighter that stunned Miguel Cotto for the title last year. While we can't really tell if the pre-fight inspection affected his confidence heading into the fight, one can only wonder if there was a similar substance on Margarito's wraps before his victory over Cotto. Regardless, it was Mosley's speed that overwhelmed him in this bout.
"That's a serious offense," an official with Golden Boy, Mosley's promoter, said according to the Times report. "That's cheating."
The California State Athletic Commission has reportedly seized two pads and is investigating. However, because the violation was caught before Margarito entered the ring, Margarito's camp will likely not be punished too severely if the substance was in fact illegal.
Mosley's also no stranger to cheating accusations, dating back to 2003, where he was allegedly involved in the BALCO performance-enhancing drugs scandal.

Wow, why all the slamming over a couple of questions that are just asking people their OPINION on something that has no bearing on anything important? It`s just for entertainment, don`t take things so seriously, lol. So many people always slamming the stories and such on the internet. I just don`t get why they bother reading them or responding so bitterly. Nothing is ever going to change. People love to hear about their favorite actors, atheletes, and such. May it be gossip, lies, the truth, etc.. I never comment but all those F-BOMBS thrown at everyone seemed a bit too much, just an opinion, lol.

Once the CA state commission confirms that the pads are in fact illegal. Antonio Margarito win over Cotto should be Null and Void. Better yet if the wraps from that fight are still available they should be inspected as well. Cotto definitely dominated Margarito for the majority of the fight and only the accumalation of blow from those possibly contaminated gloves/wraps gave him (margarito) the edge.

You can only make the win over Cotto null and void if there is direct evidence he cheated in that fight. You cannot use conduct from a subsequent fight against him although I think his reputation is defninately damaged.

you have no idea of what you are saying cwc1864.from what these eyes saw yesterday, its a big possibilty that MARGARITO,is a dirty fighter and could;nt beat Cotto, on his worst day.

Yes Cotto got beat, but by a cheater. I seriously doubt any would need to, but let's pin you up against an opponent wearing cast pads under his padded gloves and see how long you last. Margarito cheated and only die hard fanatics will argue against that fact. Surely he did it against Cotto despite the fact that it cannot be proven now. But take a look at that fight. After 7 roundsof getting his ass kicked, and hardly scratching at Cotto, he sudenly came back with a second wind? What man does that? No one, or a cheating one. It wasn't his stamina that beat Cotto in the end. It was loaded gloves and a medication number body, as admitted by his own trainer. They just didn't reveal how much of the substance was left in his system after the dopage test. There's only one way to prove Margarito cheated against Cotto too, and that's during the re-match when Cotto will pummel him and beat him until he's under the ring....
