After washing out as a mixed martial arts fighter and taking the EliteXC organization down with him, Kimbo Slice is turning to boxing.Gary Shaw, the promoter who brought Kimbo to EliteXC, told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that Kimbo (real name: Kevin Ferguson) will make his pro boxing debut as a heavyweight some time late this summer. The date, venue and opponent are all to be determined.
This is probably the right move for Kimbo. He's really not a good enough athlete to be a good professional fighter at either boxing or MMA, but at least in boxing he has a clean slate. MMA fans know not to take Kimbo seriously as a fighter, while boxing fans might keep more of an open mind toward him.
And for Shaw, this is probably the right way to cash in a couple more times on Kimbo's name. Kimbo is famous enough that the short blurb in the Miami Herald was mentioned on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption, so he'll get a fair amount of media attention when he steps into the ring, and Shaw's roots as a promoter are in boxing, so that's where he has the best chance of having Kimbo fight on a big stage.

Shaw will put Kimbo in the ring with a couple of tomato cans, and Kimbo will get a couple of easy wins. But if Kimbo ever gets a real heavyweight who comes to fight, he won't last a round.
I would like to know how much he will make. And compare it to what he was making iun mma
I am surprised he his not trying is chance in japan he sems more suited for that philosophy
Hmm how about an old, over the hill Mike Tyson coming out of retirement to knock Kimbo senseless? I like it! Kimbo said its his dream fight. I got my money on Tyson if it happens tho I'm sure it won't. But money talks so who knows?
mike tyson is rumored to come out of retirement to knock this gy on his ass lol
you must be crazy if you think boxing fans are gonna give this guy a chance. you must think we're stupid or something. he'll get even less attention in boxing. its obvious his skill are not even on par with the average club fighting heavyweight.
