Floyd Mayweather: Manny Pacquiao Needs Me, I Don't Need Him

Every boxing fan in the world wants to see Floyd Mayweather fight Manny Pacquiao. But Mayweather, who will fight Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18, says he doesn't need to make that fight.

"I'm not chasing him, I'm not chasing no fighters," Mayweather said on ESPNews. "I don't have to chase Pacquiao. Pacquiao needs me, I don't need him. With or without Pacquiao, my legacy is I'm going down as one of the best."

Mayweather then said that he was a bigger draw than Pacquiao, and although he wouldn't discuss a potential split of the purse with Pacquiao, he certainly seems to be under the impression that he would deserve a bigger slice of the pay-per-view pie than Pacquiao if the two of them fight.

Mayweather also took umbrage with the notion that Pacquiao is a better fighter than him, noting that his own record is perfect, and adding of Pacquiao, "He's been beaten three times and knocked out twice, and two draws."

But ultimately, Mayweather doesn't sound interested in proving that he's better than Pacquiao -- he sounds interested in making a lot of money.

"I don't fight for bragging rights," Mayweather said. "I fight for checks."

DO NOT BUY THIS PPV! Time for an ego check, not a paycheck. Jr has lost several fights, the judges decided NOT to do what was right. I guess they were mesmerized by the sparkles on the tassles on his boots. For example, Hatton gave him a good old fashioned ass-whippin', but was denied by the judges. PacMan has way too much for Jr and he knows it. Pacquiao has gotten stronger and faster. While Jr has gotten lackadaisical and complacent. Sounds like Jr is running. But, thats all he would do inside the ring anyway.

you know, the real issue here is that mayweather is black and you guys want a white champ and that's understandable but ..... that just ain't happenin, that's right happenin not happening. maybe one day there will be another white champ someday, maybe. so don't hate the guy cause he's black just appreciate his skills and just keep hope alive that one day there might be a white champ.

Mayweather is blowing smoke. The Marquez fight should be interesting, but it is primarily a tune up for the fight with Pacquiao. There's no way Mayweather can jump into the ring for a real fight with Pacquiao in November off of sparring alone.
