Manny Pacquiao, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, said Wednesday that he's prepared to accept a challenge from Shane Mosley to be his next opponent -- provided the two can work out details of a contract.
"No problem, we can fight. As long we negotiate," Pacquiao reportedly told GMA News in the Philippines.
That led Mosley to release a statement saying that he'll agree to give Pacquiao 60 percent of the purse, and he'll agree to lose weight and fight Pacquiao below Mosley's usual 147 pounds.
"Now that Manny has stated that he is ready to fight me, the only thing left to finish are negotiations," Mosley said. "Richard Schaefer and Bob Arum are working out the details now. I will be ready to fight Pacquiao on October 17th."
Of course, when two parties say they have a deal and that they just need to negotiate the details, what they really mean is they don't have a deal at all. So will this fight really go down?
I think it's a fight that makes sense from a competitive standpoint and would make money from a business standpoint, but I also think the one big fight that boxing needs is Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather, and I'm not sure that any fight that would stand in the way of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is a fight that should happen.

Who cares about a Pacman-Floyd fight? Mayweather obviously is avoiding this meeting with all his excuses and alibis. Pacquiao dont need Floyd to establish his status in boxing just like Floyd thinks that Pacquiao is overrated. Mosley is a real contender to Manny's P4P crown just because we all know who Mosley fought in his career, top contenders in his divisions, who did Floyd beat? The guy cant even face a guy his own size. He may be A top draw but he is NOT the top draw in boxing.

Y SHOULD FLOYD LOSE WEIGHT TO FIGHT PAC MAN IF HES WANTS THE TITLE THEN HE HAS TO COME AT 147 SHANE IS MAKING A MISTAKE THATS GOING TO MAKE HIM TO WEAK PACMAN CAN NOT HANDLE THE JRS. WELTERWEIGHTS HE WILL B EXPOSED RICK HATTON WAS 1 DEMINSIONAL BUT IF THAT FIGHT WOULD HAVE TOOK PLACE IN GREAT BRITAIN IT MIGHT HAVE HAD A DIFFERENT OUTCOME, PACMAN CANT EXPECT FIGHTERS TO DROP TO A WEIGHT THAT WILL ONLY BENEFIT HIM, AT 147 HE CANNOT OR WILL NOT BEAT A DEFENSIVE, ACCURATE PUNCHER LIKE MAYWEATHER, OR SHANE MOSLEY hes to strong 4 pacman and mosley can take a punch pacman is not going to take there punches that good we will c soon if and when he fights guys like j.urango, a.berto, s.mosley, n.campbell,etc. then i will give best fighter ever, beating guys like o.dela hoya(old man)lost to much weight to soon, r.hatton wrong fight plan,1 style they just padded his stats. freddie roach is not going to get no werlterweight to come down from 147 to 142

Are you serious? Who has Floyd beat? Well really, who has Manny beat that were in their prime? Most experts and anyone that watched the fight thinks Manny lost to Marqes. He also lost to Morales. It looks good cause he knocked hatton out so quickly but Floyd just doesn't fight like that. He is a boxer. The G.O,A.T Ali was a boxer not a slugger that went the distance many time and said float like a butterfly and sting like a bee! I love watching Manny but I also like watching Floyd. Any of you that thinks Manny will walk right through Floyd is crazy. Go ahead and put money on Manny in that fight and you will loose. Sugar is a awesome fighter but remember he beat Oscar on steroids! He wasn't at the top when Floyd was.

i can tell your a real fight fan, these guys dont seem to understand that pacman wants floyd to come in at 142 why should he lose weight to fight this guy, one other thing pacman could have fought 4 a welterweight title instead he chose to fight oscar we know thats more money but remember he doesnt supposedly care about the so called money, i know pacman cant handle jr. or welterweight, if he would have fought hatton overseas they would have let hatton rough him up a bit if u watch the fight u will plainly see they took thaT element away from hatton and thats his style they let him rough floyd up but they mmade sure it didnt happen to pac man

floyd started in the 120's in the beginning of his career and moved up fighting bigger fighters than himself not to mention he called out moseley in his prime

most of those bigger fighters by the way were undefeated knock out specialists before they fought mayweather you don't hear about them because mayweather exposed them like he did hatton

apparently you are giving Floyd way more credit then he deserves kwatsonphila . Corrales was a good fighter not a great fighter and when he fought Floyd he was going through legal trouble so his mind wasnt in the fight , he fought Gatti when he was old as shit , and losing all his fights , Castillo beat him the first time , and who hasn't beaten judah . When Floyd beats cotto , manny , mosely , paul , Or any body worth fighting then i will give him his props

If Mosely fights at the weight of 143-144, Pacquiao my man will KO Mosely before round six. I can guarantee you that.
Floyd is scared as hell to fight my man because he has no answer for the combo Manny will deliver to his ugly face. Bet that.

Manny should schedule his fight a week before Mayweather's fight to give them lesson who's the PPV magnet.

Doesnt matter. Pacman will be remembered as the explosive machine that fought the best. Mayweather will be the fabrication fighter of his era.

Anyone remember Mayweather's exact words when Cotto challenged him? The man is a coward.

MDS, I couldn't agree with you more. Mosley is big, bigger than Hatton, bigger than Mayweather and as we saw against Margarito, he has KO power. Pac could easily lose this and then who would want to see Pac vs Mayweather? The next fight would then have to be Mayweather vs Mosley. But for my money, I'd rather see Pac v Mayweather and then the winner of that fight Mosley.
