The fight that every boxing fan wants to see is Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao in the battle of the two best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. But before we get to see that, we're going to have to hope Mayweather beats Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19, and Pacquiao wins his tentatively scheduled fight with Miguel Cotto on November 14.Well, there's good news for boxing fans: Mayweather thinks that's going to happen. Mayweather is, of course, always confident in his own abilities, so it's no surprise that he picks himself to beat Marquez. But he also offered a prediction about how Pacquiao vs. Cotto will go, saying that Cotto no longer appears to be an elite boxer after the beating he took at the hands of Antonio Margarito last summer.
"I think after the Margarito fight, mentally, Cotto is not the same," Mayweather told ESPN's Brian Kenny. "You can never say what can happen in the sport of boxing, but I think Pacquiao is a quick starter, and if I had to lean toward a fighter, I would say Pacquiao."
But Mayweather, being Mayweather, made it clear in making that prediction that he doesn't view either Pacquiao or Cotto as being in his own league.
"I thought Cotto lost his last fight," Mayweather said of Cotto's split decision win over Joshua Clottey last month. "It was close, but I thought he lost."
And Mayweather said he thinks the real reason the Pacquiao-Cotto fight is likely to take place this fall is that
"Bob Arum is making that fight because he wants to keep all the money in house," Mayweather said of Pacquiao's and Cotto's promoter.
Of course, Mayweather wants to keep as much money as he can in house, too. Let's just hope that in 2010, both Mayweather and Pacquiao can come to terms on a deal that gives them both enough money to be happy fighting each other.

Both fights will determine who's the bigger draw, Pacquiao or Mayweather. I advice everyone to boycott his fight with Marquez, download it on the internet instead. Let's see if Floyd "low ticket sales" Mayweather can make a case on who deserves the bigger purse, and not make anymore lame excuses not to fight Pacquiao.
floyed can and will beat manny dont hate on him have you ever boxed then shut up see my point
I hear ya on this download it and not watch it on HBO Tired of the loud mouth who really ahs fought noone but a bunch of down and out over the hill washed up boxers in his years. Lets see what he will do when he runs into a much better conditioned fighter and one who dont give up and wait for something to happen......Manny will put alot of leather on that face ofhis
How did that boycott turn out.... 1million sold on pay per veiw...dweeb
can you see the big difference between PAC & FLoYD? PAc who is the smaller guy keeps on challenging the bigger guys, while FLoyd is challenging the MArquez who is obviously smaller(but has skills & heart). FLoyd wants to easy way or u can say a shortcut route to land a fight with PACman, while PAc is taking the more difficult road which is COtto(the guy whom FLOYD had been notoriously ducking). i'll bet that if cotto wins over PAC( but i wna c pac wins), FLOYD will never fight this guy. mark my word.. He sees COTTO as a "high RIsk somehow low reward fight(in terms of money).
Mayweather vs. Pacquiao will happen @ 49-51, of course in favor of FMJ just for his one of a kind and worst EGO.
cotto cant deal with floyed hand speed and slick boxing floyed is the best out their you dont like him cause he say whats on his mind
floyed? Jeez, you can't even spell his name right.
FLOYED! so whats your problem with that if the want to spell that as it is. so what your point? your boyfriend mayrunner said the pac will beat cotto. have you have a problem with that? you and you loudmout boyfriend... all mouth. no action. watch more if you have a problem with that. put your money where your mouth is.
If Cotto fights Pacquiao like he fought Clottey, it's obviously going to be a painful night for him. Still, there are a lot of ways that fight could go, and I think it hinges mostly on how well Cotto recovers (mentally) from the past couple of beatings he's taken in the ring and how well he can gameplan for Pacman. I'm not sure I see Cotto figuring out a way to negate Pacquiao's speed without dangerously exposing himself.
As for Mayweather-Marquez? Probably 12 intolerably boring but nonetheless masterful rounds from Money. The safest bet is that Mayweather gets on his bicycle and makes Marquez fight the way Floyd Jr. wants to fight. Mayweather UD 12.
Did you guys see Floyd mayweather lost alot of his belongings at auction and now his fight robe shoes and trunks from zab judah fight is listed on ebay...They have all kinds of his stuff...
lets hope mayweather and Arum can come to an agreement because manny has little or no control over his fights just like cotto
Cotto will beat pacquaio and i belive he will whip mayweather ass... Mayweather all he does is talk

As long as Cotto has a "Nutritionist" as his trainer it is a sure thing that Paquiau will be the victor on that night. Cotto "Needs" an "Emanuel Stewart," a "Buddy McGirk," or the trainer with the scar on (the left side of) his face), who use to train Mike Tyson, when he began with Cus D'Amato. "THAT" is "the only way" that Cotto has half a chance; And, I AM (COTTO) BOXING FAN-BUT, I'M ALSO A REALIST.
Sadly enough Mayweather has been docking Pacquiao and now he wants to tell the world how much he thinks Cotto lacks the ability to beat anyone of that caliber after Margacheato's mysterious comeback win. With all due respect to Mayweather for his recently mediocre abilities, he is in no place to talk. Unlike Cotto, Mayweather lacks the testicular fortitude to fight like a man with today's best pound for pound while putting his greed aside. Cotto might've took this fight because he now wishes to seek the money rather than pick and chose ways to return to his old glory, but he never made a fuzz about fighting anyone, because there's no record of it and everyone who called him out, he fought. Mayweather on the other hand, claims he's the best, but continues to make excuses to fight men like Margarito, Manny and even Cotto at the point in height when he could've possibly been the one to hand him his only record's loss [highly unlikely, but a man can dream]. What Mayweather does is just a ploy to seek the biggest payday in case he falls to Pacquiao. That's what he's always done when it comes to big fights [even De La Hoya], then he can always tell himself he lost but got paid in the process. "Whatever makes you sleep better at night, Floyd". Since Jose Luis Castillo pulverized him to a controversial finish, Mayweather vowed never, ever to risk his undefeated record by facing opponents who stand and deliver rather than do his dance with him. Floyd Mayweather; true warriors don 't make excuses, they fight with whomever is placed in front of them. All promoters can do is request and suggest. Manny makes his own decisions as does Floyd, so if that fight hasn't yet happened it is solely because one of you is unwilling, and Manny has never dodged anyone either, so that only leaves the "rabbit" [you, what a surprise]. Cotto is such a warrior, who wether he looses or not [likely will against Pacquiao], he will remain one of those unique fighters who refused to dodge the man across his corner regardless of their status or the purse to be pursued. Men like that don't have to make excuses to sleep better at night. I know Miguel and he sleeps like a baby knowing he's done everything he's wanted, the way he's wanted.....
Pacquiao Vs. Cotto, Paquiao by KO, Cotto to slow with no defense. Look at the Judah fight before Cotto hit him low. He's a shot fighter, Glorified by HBO.
Mayweather Vs Marquez, Mayweather by UD or Late stoppage. Good fight but Mayweather will break him down, too big naturally and made to order for Mayweather.
Mayweather Vs Pacquiao Mayweather by UD same as Marquez.
Mayweather was fighting at a higher weight and beating the top fighters.
Took the fight out of Hatton who wasn't the same fighter after floyd's TKO, (Check hook) showed how to beat him.
Da La Hoya, still had some fight but not alot for either, but had more with floyd than with Paq-man
Remember when Floyd was calling out both Hatton and Cotto, and both turned him down when they were Jr.Welters. Cotto was smarter and didn't take the fight or he would have been exposed long before now.
He has the mouth but backs it up.
Style makes fights
JCSMITH your comments of Mayweather is one of the only one`s i`ve read on here that carries any weight with me.As a former fighter and boxing fan I find it hilarious some of the thinkgs being said about the upcoming bouts.First Pacman-Cotto,prediction Pacman by tko.Too much speed and to many fan`s surprise amazing punching power for a smaller fighter. Then there`s that think called conditioning, which Manny is always at his peak, which is more than i can say for Cotto who seems to be still a bit soft on defense. All credit due to Cotto he has a great offensive still of fight, and no defense in the ring which makes for a brutal beating at the hands of Manny.Which brings me to Floyd-Marquez.prediction Floyd, late round tko or ud.Like Manny,Floyd has that extra presence in his corner that sees and can quickly help his fighter adjust to there mistakes in the ring and for those of you who`s not following me so far that would be Roger and Freddie, two of the greatest trainers of all times. And like Manny they will adapt to the other fighters in the ring and their still of fight albeit in different ways.i`m both cases with Hatton,Floyd smothered his punches and didn`t allow Hattons dirty fight style to frustrate hit and gave hive plenty of angles.Eventually taking the fight out of him.Manny opposite of that Freddie saw something different that would work to Manny`s advantage which was to let go of his hands get in with combinations get out setting him up for Hatton to throw a left hook which Roache talked about all through training camp and taught Manny to slip under catching glass jaw Hatton and sending him home to what could be an early retirement.Which brings us to a mega fight.Floyd-Manny,wow.Talk about super fights, and an explosive atmoshpere to be in for fight fan everywhere.prediction, too close to call, but Floyd by ud.Floyd will have to withstand an early onsluaght of Manny`s in your face style of fight and take him into the championship rounds and win the final round of this fight to continue as the p4p champ. For Manny to bag the biggest win of his career he`ll have to make it a very small ring for Floyd, and with Floyd`s superior head movement and footwork he`ll have to take it to the body to slow a Floyd Mayweather.Being the smaller fighter he`s got to work his way in and when Floyd decides to lay on the ropes he`s got to make him pay.Which i think he will, but i also think Mayweather and his corner will make the neccessary adjustments as well.I think you`ll see Mayweather do something you haven`t seen him do in a while.Establish a strong dominant jab which will be the difference in this fight. As usual for me my only prayer for all involved in the upcoming fight is that the all emerge from it still in good health.Too all out there lets enjoys what we hope will be 3 great upcoming fights.
