Floyd Mayweather Sr: Manny Pacquiao Ain't Got Skills Like My Son

After watching his son dominate Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather Sr said he came away more convinced than ever that the boxing match everyone wants to see -- Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao -- would be a mismatch.

"I want him to fight Pacquiao," Floyd Sr. said of his son. "He don't have no skills -- he ain't got skills like my son."

Floyd Sr. added, "He's not in Floyd's league -- that's so plain to see that Ray Charles can see it," although it wasn't clear whether Floyd Sr. was referring to Pacquiao or Marquez in that comment.

There's no question that Floyd Jr. thoroughly dominated Marquez while Pacquiao fought him essentially even for 24 rounds. So in that respect, the Mayweather camp has reason to crow. On the other hand, Pacquiao thoroughly dominated both Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, beating them both far more convincingly than Mayweather did. So the debate about who's better, Mayweather or Pacquiao, didn't end on Saturday night.

And that's really why boxing needs the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight to happen: Everyone agrees that these are the two best boxers in the world. We need to see it settled in the ring.

I agree with Floyd Sr. Mayweather is way too skilled for Manny. He would win a close decision in 12 rounds. He's just too fast and too good defensively for Manny.

I agree also, and I don't understand all this "blood and guts" thing about boxing. It is an art where the goal is to hit and not be hit. Whether one likes him or not, Floyd M. is the best at this in boxing. If you want blood, go watch UFC. Zab Judah and Luis Castillo are the only boxers who gave him trouble. Zab was nearly as fast as him and is very strong. Floyd figured him out anyway and beat him. I see the same for Manny. Manny's penchant for "fighting" will cause him to be beat by a natural boxer such as Floyd.

In boxing, it always about the style. PacMan would give Mayweather his toughest fight since Mayweather fought Zab Judah! PacMan has a style that Floyd may have trouble with. However, PacMan is prone to be off balance and gets hit a lot. This isn't good for PacMan. I can almost see Mayweather winning by 5th round Knockout.

mayweather jr beat jmm and one knockdown. Pacman gave jmm 4 knockdows total, and defeated oscar and Hatton in earlier rounds.... Hmnnn. I think Mayweather Sr. can't do math that well.

Let's face it. Everyone is either waiting for PBF to knock someone out and or get his ass kicked. He's way too fast and skilled for either Cotto or Mosley. 2Pac man will be singin "Dear Mama" before he gets served a Biggie sized happy meal from Floyd! (Keep the change 2pac!) The only one who has a chance against PBF is Paul the Punisher Williams.

floyd has 2 weight division higher than marquez on fight night, IMAO if pacquiao has 2 weigh division above marquez, marquez would be killed! there is no special in his win with marquez, he cheated the weight, he has speed, floyd has all advantage in the world but he couldnt KO an obis featherweight marquez fighting at welter.

The issue here is: What is the catchweight? Will mayweather jr agrees for 144 and 50/50 sharing? If so, That would be a great fight for them to prove who is the best pond for pound king. Please take note, no 146 just 144 before the fight.

If Pacquiao has no skills then I guess that makes him the first unskilled fighter to beat all this skilled fighters. Pac-Man is one of a kind. Mayweather is great, while Pacquiao is legendary. It's a big difference. Who needs skills when you can put your opponent to sleep in just two rounds? Hatton would agree with me.

hands down, pacquiao beats mayweather. and mayweather will retire again after the fight. mayweather's accuracy will fall to 30% or less with a moving target. and defense? napoleon was small and his armies really fast and he proved size could not do anything with an enemy that has speed, power and a swarming offense. mayweather is not pacquiao's waterloo.

You got to be joking me, Pac cannot beat Floyd. Pac man is a slugger that relies heavily on pressureing his opponent. Floyd M is all about keeping his opponent away with jabs and combos. Pac has a horrible defence do to his style of fighting. Mayweather,is a counter puncher with a heavy defense.
Can anyone see Pac coming in swinging valiently but get caught like marquez in the process as most of his blows glance of floyd. This fight will go the distance because floyd wont knock him out but he will embarass Pac man just as much as he did Marquez.
Im sorry i love Paquio's style but i can't see anyone giving mayweather trouble besided Mosely. Styles make fights.
