Floyd Mayweather is likely to face Shane Mosley on May 1 at a site to be determined, according to a source.
Mayweather (40-0, 25 knockouts), whose scheduled March 13 megabout with Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) did not take place due to a drug-testing controversy, is still tentatively scheduled to face an opponent to be determined on March 13, likely in Las Vegas.
Andre Berto (25-0, 19 KOs) is scheduled to defend his WBC welterweight title against the 38-year-old Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs), the WBC super champion, on Jan. 30 in a highly-anticipated clash at at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
Neither Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer nor Mayweather's adviser Leonard Ellerbe of Mayweather Promotions could be reached for comment.
It is unclear whether or not Mayweather will retain his plans to face an opponent on March 13.
But last week, the Nevada State Athletic Commission tabled Mayweather's March 13 date scheduled for the MGM until an opponent is determined, said commission director Keith Kizer.
"[The commission] has postponed consideration of the March 13 date by Golden Boy at the MGM just because under our policy, the commission needs to know the main event, the television situation and the site for any request for a large event," said Kizer. "For the bigger fights, the commission normally wants the situation and the event for a big fight like a Mayweather fight to be set. So the commission looks forward to having that on its next agenda once the main event has been set by Golden Boy Promotions."
After Mayweather's unanimous decision victory over Juan Manuel Marquez in September, Mosley jumped into the ring, interrupted Mayweather's post-fight interview with Max Kellerman, and challenged the unbeaten, five-time champion to make a deal to fight him.
Mayweather, however, has insisted that he has called out Mosley in the past, when the latter still was a 135-pound champion, and Mayweather a 130-pound titlist.
That time was in 1999, when Mayweather still was the WBC's super featherweight champion.
In April of that year, Mosley defended his IBF lightweight title for the last time with an eighth-round knockout of John Brown.
But in September 1999, Mosley passed over the junior welterweight (140 pounds) class and jumped straight into the welterweight (147 pounds) division.
There, Mosley scored consecutive knockouts over Wlfredo Rivera and Willy Wise before dethroning Oscar De La Hoya as WBC champion by split-decision in January 2000.

Mosley will have to agree on all of merryweathers demands in order to make the fight happen. Mosley is the only other guy that can beat merryweather aside from the Pacman. But it's not gonna be easy.
If-and I said If-Mayeather is really serious about fighting Mosely and seeking the "redemption" I posted about, I would think he would be smart enough not to make a big public issue about all this blood issue crap as in "deja vu all over again." If he does, he'll be laughed right out of boxing and never be able to live down the cowards perception he has on him now-as it will only be re-inforced a hundred fold.
I don't give a damn what Mosley allegedly took before or whatever else-if Floyd Mayweather is as good as I once believed he was (he has shaken that belief I had of him big time now-talking mostly about heart here), then he'll go in there like a man and whip Shane's butt if he can. To me, this will prove a lot. It will at the very least prove he is not a coward and certainly prove that he is worthy to fight Manny.
One last thing I sincerely hope takes place-something I personally would like to think is a product of frustration more than anything else. He's got to stop with the race card stuff as he is way out of line with that and it will not endear him to many people. He has enough people now that don't like him-and if he wants to keep that kind of image and way of thinking that's entirely up to him of course but not good form or class for a fighter of his abilities needless to say.
When Hopkins talks that shyt and says-"I'm never gonna let a white man beat me" it's obviously Hop's famous hype and Calzaghe was as cool as a cucumber when he said that shyt at the weigh in. I was actually laughing and so was Calzaghe. With Floyd however it is different, and you can see it in his face-his mannersims whenn he talks about it in various interviews. This has really turned me off to Floyd and I've made no secret about it. I hope he develops a different outlook on this in the future.
As to the fight ever taking place-at this point it's safe to say-Seeing is believing!
This is a match made in hell. Floyd is a certified Xylocaine user and Mosley a PED user. This is what you call LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.
Mosley will get whooped to old
Its nice to hear about a real boxing match instead of that froo-froo sissy UFC MMA fake just like the WWF stuff.
If the Mosley/Mayweather fight happens, I am picking PBF to win by decision. Why? Because Mosley seems to have a hard time with speedy boxers. Mosley lost both of his fights to Vernon Forrest who is also a superb boxer. So, that's what I expect in this fight. However, I also expect Mayweather to be on his bicycle for much of the fight, which is how he'll win---peck and run, peck and run. Should he lock horns with Mosley, he could get knocked out.
This fight will happen and they will both do random testing. And yes it will do more PPV buys than Pac/Clottey and it will show Pacman up as a scared doper. All the Pacfan hating on Mayweather and the sad assed excuses for not testing and signing to fight Clottey instead has backfired big time. Arum could not have known that the earthquake in Berto's homeland would scuttle his fight with Mosley. Mayweather and Mosley, two elite fighters, both willing to random test and fight is good for boxing and bad for Pacman!! Arum's lying and backdoor dealing has come to naught!
He'd better be careful and dope Manny up real good, or Clottey will kick his ass.
Well i will say this for Mayweather,He decided to fight a fighter who can actually beat him,Mosley is the bigger puncher for sure..While Manny decides to fight Joshua Clottey,a fighter who poses no danger whatsoever...That should tell you something about Manny.
Not too mention Floyd did not demand anything of Manny he himself was not gonna do..Both would have had to take the drug test the same day..Manny just did not want to fight Floyd,Why else would you refuse a drug test and walk away from 40 million dollars even though you claim you are clean and always have been?
Single source on this story? It better be a good one. Also, what happens if Berto wins? Derby Day (May 1 this year) has lately been the date of a big fight, so this fits nicely, but I'd like some more information and a confirmation on the source. Still, it obviously is intriguing.
mayweather is a scared little beoch!Manny would kick his behind, then he couldn't run his big mouth anymore.Nobody wants to see Mosley and Mayweather fight! You might as well call it "Dumber and Dumber Again"!!!
Do you mean the Roid Head Pacquioa? The one who walked away from 4o million because he's afraid of needles! Yea right! Tell Manny that Barry Bonds called and he wants his head back!

"Do you mean the Roid Head Pacquioa? The one who walked away from 4o million because he's afraid of needles! Yea right! Tell Manny that Barry Bonds called and he wants his head back!" ~~~~~ Hey Gregory! Why don't you tell Manny that yourself instead asking someone else to do your chickencrap work? You wouldn't, you couldn't, because you would suffer from a major case of raisinballs that would require surgery that a urologist couldn't fix. And you know that man from Phillippines would knock your sorry behind into next week. Little-man, if you have proof that Manny, heck, Barry too, has taken steroids, let the Feds know. Let CNN and ESPN know. If you don't, shut the hell up and stay in your bedroom until your mom let's you out! Fool!
I couldn't have said it any better. All Mayweather has anymore is his mouth, which most of the public that has any smarts to them is about tired of listening to. manny would absolutely whipp his gutless ass...period. And he knows it which is why he getting as many other big payday fights as he can before pacman ends it all for him.
Agreed. Mayweather should fight like his mouth runs. Why is it that NO ONE else nefore him question Paqucciao about drugs? He was just looking for an excuse not to fight a man he knows would whoop his ass. Also, I'll always say DeLaHoya won that fight.
I truly believe that Mayweather does not want to fight Pacquiao and he used the drug testing as a cop out. He doesnt want to tarnish his unbeaten record and wants to retire undefeated. Time to man uo Floyd and give the fans what they want. Get in the ring with the Pac man!!!
Actually, despite what you think Manny comes out looking like the scared person here. What was the problem with doing olympic style testing. That nonsense about it weakening athletes is just an excuse. Does olympic style testing weaken olympic boxers? Wouldn't Floyd be subject to the same testing? Anytime athletes don't want to be tested for substnaces, that usually means there is a problem. If Manny was so upset about the whole situation, he could take the test, and then take out his frustrations on Floyd in the ring. The fact of the matter is that Floyd is way faster than Manny, and it wouldn't be an issue. All these people talking about how Manny beat the people that Floyd beat (De La Hoya, and Hatton) don't take into account that these fighters were older and had taken more punishment when they faught Manny. Manny MAY, I repeat MAY hit harder than Floyd (everyone knows that Floyd has brittle hands) but he is no where as fast as Floyd, and he is not as skilled as Floyd. And if you really want to get it out in the open to talk about the fighters just look at who they chose as subsequent opponents. Mayweather chose to fight Mosely, who just had a brilliant performance his last fight, and Manny chose Paulie Malinagie. A young over rated fighter that would probably have a hard time beating your sister. This is boxing! Fighters are not supposed to be afraaid of needles, or testing or the boogie man. Manny needs to man up, take the test (and prove he is not on steroids) and then whip on Floyd if he can. Anything less (like complaining, threatening to sue, or fighting braided hair wanna be fighters) just shows that he has something to hide, or that he doesn't want to fight. Basically, he's a PUNK... Punks don't make good champions.
Enough already Floyd said take a drug test and we will fight..For whatever reason manny did not want to..So its Manny who is scared to fight..Why else would a man who never failed a test REFUSE TO TAKE ONE..Floyd was not asking anything he was not prepared to do himself..Fact is Manny would have gotten beat down and that would have ruined his legacy...Smart move to make an excuse like "Giving blood weakens me..LMAOOOO not like you were giving pints or quarts Manny baaaad excuse, but that's what you do when you are scared on Money Mayweather..YOU BACK OUT OF THE FIGHT
yeah..right..hes afraid of manny..coz he knows he will loose..
Amen, but this crap will go round and round until, like you said, mayweather can get a few more big paydays while avoiding Manny and then retire as an undefeated gutless swine. And that's as it sould be with a usless piece of terd like mayweather. Have him be remembered more for being to gutless to give all the boxing fans what they want, hell, he can't win anyway. I watched that interview at the top of the page and once again alll i saw was some punk ass thug running his mouth where he knows it can't get hit. Boxing should not allow this terd to fight again until he agrees to fight Pacman.
"Nobody wants to see Mosley and Mayweather fight!"
geedee94134, you are joking right?
